Nuvella Girls Initiative
Who We Are
Nuvella Girls Initiative is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering vulnerable girls and children in Uganda. The organisation focuses on education, vocational skills, health awareness, mentorship, and protection to help girls overcome challenges and reach their full potential. Through its programs and planned Girls' Centre, Nuvella Girls Initiative seeks to create a safe and supportive environment where girls can learn, grow, and build a better future.

Director's Story
By Gift Tumwebaze, Project Director
Hi, my name is Gift Tumwebaze and I am a 25-year-old female Ugandan. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Human Resource Management.
I am very passionate about advocating for girls’ rights because girls today are growing up in a world filled with opportunities, yet they continue to face barriers that limit their full potential.
My Background
Having lost my parents at a very young age, I was raised by my Aunties. I went to a government-founded elementary school where I completed my P7.
On many occasions, I worked as a casual labourer in people’s farms and gardens to raise money to sustain my school needs—such as uniforms, books, and simple clothing.
Being young, I was underpaid most of the time. On other incidents, my hard work was exchanged for just a plate of food. I missed so many classes simply because I could not afford the school equipment needed to stay in school.
While other girls were able to concentrate on their education and dreams, I was constantly worried about how I would get the basic needs I needed to continue learning.
